Circular Rooflights for More Natural Light

There are lots of rooflight shapes on the market, so have you considered circular? A circular rooflight will give you natural light that is focused into one particular area – though you can get a bigger rooflight if you would like a larger surface area covered. These are not to be confused with suntubes, which are small installations that channel light down into hard to reach places.

A circular rooflight is a slightly different shape and will add something more unique in feel to your building. It will give you the natural light you want, whilst also giving you a contemporary, modern look and style. You can pick from a wide range of different colours, though white will often be preferable as this will give a more open, bright look when you peer upwards. The glass will usually be domed, focusing sunlight down into the room and making your home instantly lighter.

Why Gutters are Important

When it comes to roofing one of the most important functions is to protect a building from water damage, and to provide adequate protection gutters are absolutely essential. Even though a roof is able to protect the interior of a property from water damage, if it just slides off the roof and onto the ground underneath then that water can splash back onto walls and undermine their structural integrity and that of the ground as well.

Gutters are able to resolve this issue by funnelling all of the water which runs off the roof into one area which is designed to transfer all of the water away from the building, helping to prevent continued damage.

When you’re having a roof built or rebuilt, it is essential that you make sure that it is properly implemented. It may surprise you to know that roofers regularly implement them improperly, sometimes even installing them above the end of the roof, which even a layman could tell you isn’t going to work. Therefore exerting some oversight to ensure that the gutters are well placed, made of durable materials and are properly installed is absolutely necessary.

Sealing Concrete Roof Tiles

To limit your roof tiles from damage, leaks and for just maintaining the aesthetics of the roof in general we recommend that you seal your concrete roof.

To seal your concrete roof tiles, you will need;

  1. Acrylic masonry surface cleaner
  2. Airless spray system
  3. Ladder
  4. Paintbrush

You need to fill the spray system’s reservoir with acrylic masonry surface cleaner and then connect the system to nearest electrical socket. You may need an extension due to the distance between your electric socket and roof. Start spraying at the top edge from one side of the roof, spraying the sealer in a calm motion. Move downwards and make sure that the spraying overlaps the edge of the already sprayed area. Once the whole roof is done,  allow the sealer to dry for a minimum of two hours. If the sealer is dry, apply another coating of sealer and then wait again till dry.
